On June 17, 1894, he murdered Deputy Houston. In September, he killed his brother-in-law Joseph Brown. Reportedly, they had argued over hogs.

Bill was captured by Ike Rogers and Clint Scales on January 31, 1895. Three months later, he was sentenced to death for the murder of Ernest Melton.

After the sentence, he once tried to run away from the prison. Unfortunately, he failed and on his second trial, he was announced to be hanged on September 10, 1895.

Later, the Supreme Court extended his date and was finally hung on March 17, 1986. Reportedly, his last words were “I came here to die, not make a speech.”
