Nirmal Purja is a Nepali mountaineer and former British Gurkha soldier. He joined the British Gurkhas at the young age of eighteen back in 2003, he was a part of the Special Boat Service(SBS) since 2009. He started his mountaineering journey in 2012 after summiting Mount Lobuche.

In 2018 after he had summited Dhaulagiri and Mount Everest, Purja was appointed a Member of the Order of the British Empire by Queen Elizabeth II(MBE). 

On January 16, 2021, Purja and his team became the first-ever team to climb K2 mountain during winter without supplementary oxygen. Along with that Purja has summited all of the 14 eight-thousanders of the world.

Nirmal Purja is a Nepali mountaineer and former British Gurkha soldier. He became a Gurkha in 2003 and began his mountaineering journey very recently in 2012.

There have been no announcements made about Nirmal Purja being married or having a wife, so we can assume that he is single.

Purja was born in Myagdi, Nepal, and spent his childhood in Chitwan and his age as of January 2021, is exactly 37 years old.

He is of Nepalese nationality and is of Asian ethnicity.

His father was a member of the British Gurkha. Nirmal followed in his father’s footsteps and became a British Gurkha soldier at the age of eighteen in 2003.

After being a part of the British Gurkhas for 15 years, Purja quit the army as a Lance Corporal in 2018.

Nirmal who was born near Dhaulagiri was always interested in mountain climbing and made his first ascent in 2012 when he climbed Mount Lobuche.

Purja climbed the first of his 14 eight-thousanders on May 18, 2014, when he climbed mount Dhaulagiri.

By October 2019, Nirmal Purja summited all the fourteen eight-thousanders of the world. He began his journey in April 2019 and called it Project Possible 14/7.
